Safa CT with egg on face, must reinstate Treasurer Weitz and clear publicly

Safa Cape Town sits with egg on its face – and let truth be told, it’s their own doing.

Now, Cape Town’s football Mother body needs to publicly clear its beleaguered treasurer Wayne Weitz following an emergency meeting held at the Rygersdal Sports Complex on Wednesday (22 October) evening.

This meeting was also called to set an agenda for their Congress on Sunday which should be an interesting one to say the least.

Bear in mind, it has been more than two months since a Safa CT DC exonerated Weitz and ruled that he should be reinstated with immediate effect. It was also stated that a public apology should be given to Weitz – but up until now, nothing has been forthcoming.

This comes after Weitz’s Safa CT employer accused the Metropolitan LFA president of mismanagement of funds and not adhering to protocol. He was subsequently placed under “precautionary suspension”.

No Bones with Jones can now confirm that it was decided at the hour-long meeting in Rondebosch that the region finally accepted the outcome of the DC regarding the Weitz case and will have to act upon it in the coming days.

Perhaps the region should imagine writing a press release about the Coke Cup finals and perhaps the public apology process will be expedited in this way.

But let’s not lose sight of the lies fabricated to get the case even to a DC without Weitz being given a fair chance by its employer. And to still pursue the issue, it was low and inhumane.

Perhaps the region should also apologize for misleading the football public and broader society. Let’s not forget it impacted Weitz’s personal life as well, as he lost his job in the process.

Therefore, the news stemming from the ’emergency meeting’ is very welcoming, as it shows that justice does still prevail, well sometimes!
