Morris confident to cash in on home soil to expose “weak” Zizwe counterattack after last minute fixture change

Cape Town Spurs head coach Nasief Morris says he is confident his troops will be up for the task against Zizwe United at Ikamva on Saturday – despite only having two days of preparations for this opening encounter of the ABC Motsepe League.

This follows a last-minute change of fixture by Safa Western Cape, who initially had Spurs drawn first up in an away match against the stream winners of last season, Hanover Park FC.

Morris maintains they will not be deterred by matters beyond their control and is focused only on Zizwe, whose Second Division status was bought over by Ikapa Sporting a couple of weeks ago.

“Look, I said to the guys this morning that whatever we’ve prepared for Hanover Park does not have to change drastically,” Morris told No Bones with Jones“The way we play and set can still help us play to our strengths. They just need to know that Zizwe is a team that plays football, and they like to knock the ball around, but they are weak on counterattacks.

“And obviously, we have the type of players that if we break,  we have quick and fast wingers that we can use to our advantage, you know. But for me, the players just need to be calm and relaxed because I think for the Nedbank Cup game there were too many nerves compared to our friendly games. You could see the difference; they were too nervous.

“But I’m confident we can walk away with a positive result and bag some points. The best part about this fixture change is that we would have played away against Hanover Park, but now we are playing at home,  ” the former Bafana Bafana player concluded.
