Premier United head coach Shamiel Anthony has always been a man of few words!
“Judge me by what I do and not what I say,” is a motto by which the wily old fox of a coach conducts his business on the field.
Hence, it was no surprise that Anthony was rather cagey to divulge his ambitions when probed on his objectives for Premier in this season’s third division campaign.
“It’s Early days,” Anthony stated to No Bones with Jones. “Let’s reserve our chat for later in the season.”
Truth be told, Premier has cast their net far and wide and acquired former ex-pro players Ndiviwe “Diva’ Mdabuka who made a name for himself at clubs like Vasco da Gama and Ajax Cape Town.
Anthony has also roped former Diadora shot stopper, the highly rated Mujahid Sebera in their last line of defence which clearly state their intentions.
Premier started off the new campaign on a positive note with four points from an allotted six – a 1-1 draw away to Goodhope FC and they followed it up with a hard fought 3-2 victory over the newbie Rygersdal FC at the Downberg Sport Complex over the weekend toi maintain an unbeaten start.
Premier host another debutant in Young Pirates on Sunday at their homeground which is set to be a cracker of a match against Roger Fortune’s troops.
“Yes, they are a formidable team with a fantastic technical team that’s passionate about getting Pirates and Heideveld back to its former glory days,” Anthoney further explained. “I haven’t seen them play yet but I know Roger, he’ll probably have a very good team assembled, should be a humdinger,” he concluded.
