“Born to score” ‘Aguero’ eyeing promotion and record with Spurs

The Hollywoodbets Third Division top goalscorer thus far, Rushan Abrahams, says he is not surprised that he is setting the pace this season as he was born to score goals and never gets bored of it.

“I enjoy scoring goals and I have been scoring goals all my life,” Abrahams told No Bones with Jones. “I never get bored of it. I was born to score goals. I will celebrate every goal I score as it means a lot to me. I think what is important for me as a striker is the fact that I never give up. I always try to find myself in space and the right position on the field,” said Abrahams.

Abrahams extended his tally to 15 goals this season with a fantastic 30-yard strike when he came on in the second half during their 2-1 win against Trinitarians on Friday. This goal proved to be the match-winner and handed Spurs all three points, although Trinnies pulled one back late in the game.

Abrahams’ goal-scoring prowess should also have reminded his co-coaches, Mario Tito and Franklyn Davies, that if Spurs are serious about their league aspirations, then he should be the first name on the team sheet in the future.

“Honestly speaking, I wasn’t happy that I was on the bench but I respect the coaches’ decision,” Abrahams further added. “I know the team is still gelling together and hopefully they have seen by now what my strong points are. So, I’m hoping that they will create more opportunities for me as most of my goals I had to earn and wasn’t given on a plate.

Abrahams, who was signed from Oriental Gunners at the Rygate LFA, is back in the Third Division after helping LFA clubs to achieve their objectives.

The 29-year-old cited that he loves every minute of and relishes the fact that he ruffles the feathers of defenders and goalkeepers with his eye for goals.

“It’s not that there weren’t teams showing interest in me…normally the guys move for money, you know. For me it’s not about the money – I play with my heart. Once you play for money you will never fully reach your goals and I think that is the case with a lot of players. There’s no more passion, hunger and emotion that a striker should possess,” he stated.

Abrahams – known as ‘Aguero’ for being clinical in front of goal – is filling the boots of Spurs’ former goal poacher and his predecessor Ameen Awaldien with great aplomb. It is safe to say that the Silvertown-based club is not lacking any firepower on attack with Abrahams as the new marksman.

The nuggety striker, who has a great work ethic with his running off the ball and defending from the the front, revealed that he has his sights firmly set on Darron ‘Billy’ Omaticus’ record of 36 goals for a season.

With the season still having to reach the halfway stage, Abrahams is surely on course to equal or even better the record set by Billy a couple of seasons ago.

“Firstly, my main aim is now to help Silver Spurs win promotion as they have been trying for a very long time and hopefully it will happen this season,” Abrahams further added. “That said, I also would not mind putting my name in the record books as it will be a great achievement for me,” he concluded.
