Build-It provides learning experience for learners and educators

The Build-It under 13 Soccer and Netball Festival is more than just a learning experience for the youngsters, as it is also a way for coaches and educators to empower themselves.

This tournament also assists in the identification of raw talent.

The first workshop starts on Friday at the Build-It Cape Gate store with the Festival kicking off the following day. This is mainly to ensure that further development is sustained when they return back to their respective schools.

Boebie Solomons, course instructor and technical director of Safa Cape Town, explains: “What I’m doing with the programme is like an Introduction to the CAF D-licence.

“So, it will be much easier for them to grasp and understand. The qualification is not that important, but rather the knowledge that we can impart on more coaches. That is key for me.

“We will import topics that teachers /coaches require for that particular age group and especially those that have not yet attended these courses.

The CAF/SAFA Coaching Pathway Fundamentals of coaching includes the coaching philosophy, the criteria for youth development, didactics of coaching, how to plan and conduct coaching sessions, what is important to focus on in this age group and the role of the coach,” Solomons added.

The excitement and spirit are tangible after the event was postponed due to the taxi strike.

Solomons, who will be assisted by the Cape Town soccer legends, has encouraged parents and family members to support their children and loved ones and share in their memories.
