Konstabel is “Chief Clown” in Safa Western Cape’s Scary Fixtures Show

Safa Western Cape is at it again…. And just when you thought the custodian of football in the province couldn’t stoop any lower and embarrass itself any further – it has done it again.

Despite Safa WC being embroiled in a legal battle with Santos FC after the former expelled the latter, the province further undermined the judicial system by going ahead with the release of its (draft) fixtures for the new season. This matter is under litigation in the High Court.

Mind you, the initial draft fixtures sent out last week did not include Santos. Furthermore, the province’s secretary, Nadia Konstabel (pictured), who is completely out of her depth in her position, has once again made another balls-up, as usual.

This is why the first set of draft fixtures was recalled, as Konstabel released the draft fixtures, certain clubs were scheduled to play each other four times this season. That’s double the amount of games that are usually played, as it’s based on the conventional home and away ties.

With Safa WC and Konstabel, it would probably have been home, away, and two matches in between.

Konstabel further confused the football public when she sent out a new fixture list, which was completely different from the initial one. This completely bamboozled clubs as they had already prepared for their opponents of the initial draft fixture.

For example, Junction Rover was scheduled to host Hope FC on Friday in Heideveld, only to find out that Junction now has to travel to Hanover Park for their opening match of the new campaign.

Meanwhile, coaches are left irritated and unimpressed by the province’s modus operandi. Vasco da Gama’s head coach, Andrew Pequeno, voiced his frustration to No Bones with Jones. “This is very demoralizing. I mean, this is supposed to be the highest league for our amateur players to aspire to, but no one really knows what is happening,” Pequeno stated.

FN Rangers’ head coach Arreshaat Daniels is also left a frustrated figure after they were initially fixtured against Ubuntu FC, only to find out they are now scheduled to play Seaside Spurs.

“It’s very frustrating that they left it up until now, knowing that the leagues in other provinces are up and running already. I think they are five or so games in the season already and we haven’t started yet,” Daniels explained to No Bones with Jones

“Secondly, not knowing what rules are used for the league as we have to plan accordingly as to what Safa WC is putting out there and if it is confirmed that the league starts this week then we will have to prepare out players but it is really unfair towards them as players who usually have a four to eight week pre-season but we have gone way beyond that,

“This does not bode well for the league as there is always controversy. Why are we playing under so much controversy? It’s scary you know, ” Daniels added.
