Another historical moment for the Rygate LFA in collaboration with the Spar Mookrey Group.
The LFA’s president Abdul Tajoodien (pictured second right) was left in awe – along with the future football stars -when the Palestine national football held its first-ever coaching clinic on Cape Town soil for youngsters from Athlone and the surrounding areas at the Rygate LFA in Johnson Road on Wednesday afternoon.
No less than 250 kids, aged between 10 and 14 years old, participated in the coaching clinics including a girls’ team from the Habibia Primary School that joined up with the young talent from the Rygate LFA.
According to Tajoodien the Mookrey Group has yet again backed up their commitment to drive positive change in communities through football initiatives. The retailer ensured that every kid participating received a party pack and bottled water.
“Mookrey assisted with the hydration and also made sure that each kid left with something nice after the event,” Tajoodien told No Bones with Jones. “At Rygate we believe that the kids are our future and when the idea of the clinic became part of the itinerary of the Palestinian team I knew that I had to get our partner onboard – and as always with no hesitation they responded obliged.
“It was an occasion where our kids could get exposure from a national team. You could see our young talent wanted to impress our international guests by showing them their skills. It leaves hope that one day the kids who participate in the clinics will be inspired to reach their full potential and become professional footballers.
“At Rygate we believe that opportunities are the gateway to success and by hosting this clinic we have created opportunities and some of the youth players will hold and cherish the opportunity for a lifetime. They can also look back 10 or 20 years from now and say, ‘I was there,'” Tajoodien added.
Meanwhile, the Mookrey Group’s Junaid Omar (pictured centre) said they must give back to their communities.
“We have to support our local talent to give them the opportunities and platform to achieve their dreams,” Omar said. “The community supports our brand and we have to reciprocate by helping where we can.”
