Morris calls ‘Sama’ and ‘Scara’ to train with Spurs

Two former Bafana Bafana and Santos players, Nasief Morris and Tyren Arendse, who have been tasked to guide Cape Town Spurs through the muddy, murky and messy waters of the ABC Motsepe League following their relegation from the pro-structures last season, are leaving no stone unturned.

Morris and Arendse are currently hard at work trying to put together a competitive squad for the cutthroat Second Division which is scheduled to start in October.

No Bones with Jones has been informed that experienced campaigners like Shamiel Assur (pictured) from Hanover Park FC and Nuzhad Pail, aka ‘Scara’ were spotted training with Spurs at Ikamva on Tuesday.

Needless to say, many are still trying to make sense of the Spurs’ fall from grace – just like Santos many years ago. And the saddest part is there’s no indication or sign of any revival back to the PSL for the People’s Team as they have been lagging in the amateur structures for almost a decade now.

This will also be Spurs’ fate if they don’t learn to respect the game as well as the people involved. Otherwise, they could be humbled even further if their outlook does not change for the better. They must learn to trust the people they employ, especially coaches of colour that have been undermined in the past

Spurs should allow the duo to express themselves and the club should also show the necessary trust in them – if not, they will follow in the footsteps of rivals Santos. But for now, let’s look on the bright side – at least the Spurs vs Santos derby is back – albeit a far cry from the past when they were unstoppable!
