Antalyaspor JPM Cape Town coach Gareth Ncaca cited the true essence of “teamwork” as the catalyst for their success at the inaugural Mitchells Plain Youth Cup tournament held at the Lentegeur Sports Field over the weekend.
Ncaca’s troops, who beat Stellenbosch FC by 3-2 on route to the final, got the better of the young Citizens by 3-0 on penalties after the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate after regulation time.
According to Ncaca, their success is testament of the hard work, discipline, and belief shown by the entire team throughout the tournament.
“I think what makes this achievement so special is the fact that we had about 13 first year u.18’s in the squad.” Ncaca pointed out to No Bones with Jones. “But there’s a lot of work to be done going forward.” he added.
There is no doubt that Antalyaspor is certainly stamping their authority amongst the rest of the academies in the Mother Cit after their u.16’s also clinched the Super Cup held at the William Herbert Sport Complex last year in November.
