Young Pirates head coach Roger Fortune might just have found the perfect “unorthodox” solution for his misfiring strike force following the departure of Alfonso Roman to the Third Division newbie Rygersdal FC.
Pirates fired blanks and were rather poor in front of goal in their opening match of the Safa Cape Town Third Division campaign, when they lost 0-1 to another debutant in the league, Wynberg St. John’s, who recently acquired the status of Antalyaspor JPM Cape Town.
No Bones with Jones can now confirm that Pirates are patiently waiting on the registration documents of the UWC goal poacher John Kapita – who is also a personal trainer and full-time student at the University of the Western Cape.
Fortune is now waiting in anticipation and keeping his fingers crossed that the registration of his new Congolese striker will be finalized before the cut-off date tomorrow.
The Pirates mentor says he does not doubt that the former Bazuka FC striker will be the perfect target man up front who can add value and sharpen Pirates’ blunt attack.
“You know what I like about him is his unorthodox style and that he has a knack of scoring goals out of nothing because he works so hard,” Fortune explained to No Bones with Jones. “He was also with me at Santos, but was never registered as we had issues with his documentation. So, now I cannot really say anything further until his registration is confirmed,” Fortune concluded.
Pirates face Wanderers FC on Friday (19:30) in Voorbrug Sport Complex in Delft.
