The ‘mystery’ regarding the battle between Safa Cape and its treasurer Wayne Weitz, lingers on…
No Bones with Jones can confirm that Weitz’s suspension has now been extended for another 30 days to allow the region more time to scrutinize and assess the financial statements and accounts.
This is arguably the biggest news that emerged from the region’s annual congress which took place at the Samaj Centre in Rylands on Sunday.
The one fact that is known from the outset is that no money went missing and that Weitz never had long fingers, but rather issues of governance and failure to follow protocol as stated in the initial press release following an investigation by a committee led by the Chair of the Finance Committee, Ms Siviwe Tyali, into the alleged breaches and reported back to the Regional Executive Committee.
“It’s issues of not following protocol like having two or three people present when signing off checks and doing inter-account transfers,” a source revealed to No Bones with Jones.
It’s evident that the case is not as clear cut hence the additional time from the Mother body and more could still surface with due time.
Our website has been informed that Safa CT is hellbent on getting rid of Weitz who’s been the president of the Metropolitan LFA in Bonteheuwel for the past 12 years.
But it is no secret that Weitz, who was voted in his position two terms ago, has no financial background whatsoever and one wonders if Safa CT’s bookkeeper should also help clarify and explain the alleged contraventions.
