Sait offers advice of comfort for women’s footballers who are still in limbo due to legal battle with Safa WC

Maties Ladies FC head coach Kamaal Sait (pictured) feels the pain and frustration of every member involved in women’s football in Cape Town and the broader Western Cape – but has also offered advice and comfort.

According to the Maties Ladies mentor, it’s really mind-boggling that clubs have not played a competitive match in more than a year due to an ongoing legal battle between the 14 Sasol League Ladies’ teams and Safa Western Cape.

Sait, a former pro player for Santos and Orlando Pirates, to name a few, is also a Safa coaching instructor and knows his craft inside out – so, when Sait, who is an introvert by nature, speaks, it’s best to listen attentively.

“Yeah, a little confusing, but we didn’t start as early as everyone else, only started last week with pre-season, knowing the situation we find ourselves in,” Sait stated to No Bones with Jones. “For me, it’s obviously different, because I am also preparing for USSA, because our main goal is to qualify for the A Section.

“So, for the coaches out there, work smarter and not harder. Focus on improving yourself and your players with regard to tactics and game model, and less senseless running. Also, politics aren’t healthy in football, hence I don’t involve myself at all, I stay in my lane,” he concluded.

Sait and his Maties-troops will embark on their quest for the USSA Championship later in November with a venue still to be confirmed.
