Silver Spurs’ Keita will not entertain lack of discipline from (senior) players

Silver Spurs head coach Keith America (pictured) unequivocally stated that he refused to be bullied or undermined by certain senior players – or any other player in his Hollywoodbets third division squad for that matter.

Let’s not forget that America has had an immediate impact when he steered Spurs’ LFA side to a League and Cup double prior to the start of the Third Division campaign.

But, Keita, as America is called, got a rude awakening on his debut when they lost 1-4 against newcomers Diadora FC at the NY116 Sport Complex over the weekend.

But it’s what transpired at halftime in the Spurs’ dressing room that left America in utter disgust with the lack of respect shown to him by one of his senior players.

Profanities and threats were hurled in America’s direction during the halftime talk which even caught their opponents in the dressing room next door off guard.

The well-respected football legend America cut an unimpressed figure subsequently and expects that the necessary steps will be taken by management.

“If I can be brutally honest there is no discipline and no punctuality and there’s a lot of things which I’m trying to install,” America explained to No Bones with Jones. “I tried to educate from the LFA level up already but it’s going to take some time.

“It’s like the club was desperate for players and therefore had to put up with it. Now, I’m a different kettle of fish – you chose to play football and my job is to educate you to make you a better player so you are not going to dictate terms to me. How do you punish a youngster but the seniors want to do what they want?” America added.

One of the club’s most senior members Victor Tajoodien admitted that the conduct of one of the senior players was not in line with that of the club.

“We’ll address the issue at our meeting tomorrow evening,” Tajoodien confirmed.
