‘Somalian Express’ Hits Back at Critics: “Follow SAFA Processes, Not Social Media Trials”

SAFA Western Cape Head of Referees, Anwar Alexander, better known in football circles as the “Somalian Express” has hit back at critics who have questioned his credibility and standing in the game.

“I won’t be removed through social media campaigns. If there is a case against me, SAFA’s processes must be followed. We are all accountable to the Code of Conduct, but social media is not judge, jury and executioner,” said the experienced referee administrator and fitness instructor,” Alexander told No Bones with Jones.

Alexander penned a response on social media titled “MY RESPONSE: DISGUST, DISAPPOINTMENT AND THE TRUTH“

“I am deeply disgusted and disappointed by the false allegations, misleading information and slanderous statements directed at me and my name. It is disappointing to see individuals resort to personal attacks and insinuations without presenting facts or evidence to support their claims.

“Let me make one thing absolutely clear: my reputation, my integrity and my career in football will not be defined by social media allegations.

“My contribution to football speaks for itself. As a fitness instructor, I have worked hard to maintain professional standards, promote physical fitness and help others develop. My career as a National Panel Referee, together with my uninterrupted fitness record, demonstrates my commitment, discipline, consistency and dedication to the game.

“Fitness is not achieved through favouritism or allegations. It is built through hard work, sacrifice, discipline and results. My record reflects the effort I have invested in my profession, and I will not allow unfounded accusations to erase that journey.

“To those who believe that spreading rumours, questioning my integrity or attacking my name will force me aside or silence me, let me be clear: I will not be pushed aside, intimidated or silenced.

“Instead, I will use this experience to reignite my passion for referee development, fitness education and the growth of football. My energy will be invested in building, mentoring and inspiring the next generation of referees, rather than being distracted by negativity.

“Criticism is part of life, but criticism must never be confused with character assassination. If anyone has genuine concerns, let them be raised through the proper channels, supported by facts and addressed with professionalism. My name deserves the same fairness and respect afforded to everyone else.

“I know my journey, I know my work, and I know the sacrifices I have made. I will continue to stand tall, remain focused,” Alexander concluded.
