As I’m conveying this message, UCT Ladies head coach Ahmed Parker is recovering from (skin graft) surgery, so all prayers and support are needed going forward.
“I’m recovering from surgery and thankful for everyone’s prayers and duahs,” Parker told No Bones with Jones. “I’ll probably be home by Thursday Gold Willing.
“Oh, and Mark (Kapman) is also discharged today (Tuesday) which is fantastic news,” – Kamaal Sait, interim coach of UCT Ladies confirmed to our website.
Sait, Parker’s mentor and former UCT coach, has been tasked to step in during the time of need following the car crash involving Parker, Kapman and the assistant coach Shaquille Williams on Saturday evening.
Sait, a former Orlando Pirates player and part of the Santos League and Cup winning side, has revealed that they had their first training session on Monday following their arrival on Sunday afternoon and the subsequent news of the accident which obviously sent shockwaves through the squad.
Be that as it may, Sait who is gunning for promotion for a second consecutive time, is well aware that his experience is now needed more than ever – on and off the field.
Luckily for Sait, the players are very familiar with him and they have a good rapport.
“I have to commend the players for their maturity and professionalism shown thus far,” Sait further added. “As much as we are thinking of Parker’s situation, we are also focussed on winning it for Parker, Kappies, Williams and everyone else who is part of this journey. It is a collective effort thus far,” the former Matroosfontein youth product concluded.
UCT start its campaign against Ezemvelo from KZN on Wednesday.
