Without placing a premature curse on the ABC Motsepe League debutant, Diadora FC, but I have seen enough to be convinced that Diadora FC will be victorious in Stream A – viewed as the weaker stream but with more traveling and expenses – so, it is theirs to lose.
It’s also because coach Zain Abrahams’ Diadora outfit is cut from a different cloth and their near-perfect record is testimony thereof. Mind you, the Hanover Park-based. club. who are based at the Greens in Manenberg, still, remain the only unbeaten side across both streams and that takes some doing.
The log in Stream B log also shows a pretty picture from Diadora’s perspective as they dominate on all fronts thus far. They’ve scored the most goals (34) from eleven matches, conceded the fewest (10), which translates to the highest goal difference (24) – with three draws in the process – No team in Stream A comes close to this.
Abrahams’ Diadora (27 points) currently enjoys a four-point gap over the second-placed Ammaar Soccer Academy (23), which has also been very impressive in their second season in the league and hats off to the coaches and management who are showing seasoned campaigners how it should be done.
Despite Ammaar’s fantastic showing, Diadora remains the club to beat – and credit should really go to Abrahams and his technical team for stamping their authority in the Second Division with such great aplomb.
Abrahams, as always, gives away very little with his shy demeanor, but maintains the league is far beyond wrapped up.
“We cannot take anything for granted, so despite what people say on the outside, we still have a job to do.” Abrahams stated to No Bones with Jones. “It would be unprofessional, foolish and disrespectful of me should I make such claims, ” Abrahams added.
