Sunday is D-Day for “Break-away” Kenny and the “Want-away Clubs”

Sunday is D-Day to find resolutions and sanctions for the culprits sitting behind the ongoing drama at the Mitchells Plain Local Football Association (MPLFA).

This emanated from the MPLFA’s meeting with plus minus 20 of its representatives held at the Westridge Sports Complex on Monday (11 September) – with Safa Cape Town’s president, Bennett Bailey, also in attendance.

There were club representatives of the “Want-away” faction present, but others such as Cedar Park, Tafelzucht, Rock-A-fellas, Kenpark United and Beacon Spurs decided not to participate in the engagement.

In summary, the representatives of the various clubs from the MPLFA were all issued with evidence in the fact-finding report of the proposed break-away led by Tafelzucht’s president, Kenny Hendricks.

The Mancom is in possession of documents, along with witnesses, that indicates that Hendricks is indeed the “mastermind,” behind the proposed break-away LFA.

Hendricks, an executive member (registration officer) was subsequently suspended until the next council meeting or SGM – whichever comes first.

This is to be endorsed by the general council, whereafter he will be charged and will have to appear before a DC for bringing the game into disrepute.

Other members found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute are Ismail Du Toit (Westridge FC), Dion Warner (Cedar Park), Granville Solomons (Red Rovers), Nino Solomons (Rock A fellas) and Gerald Cookson (Kenpark United).

FC Tafelzucht however denied any involvement in such a radical move. The club has also not sent any official correspondence to confirm or to back up their involvement in the new breakaway LFA.

The LFA also met with three clubs – Beacon Spurs, Kenpark United and Stanturf United – on 16 August where the trio confirmed in a letter that they are not part of the breakaway faction.

During the LFA’s meeting with Beacon Spurs, Cedar Park, Red Rovers and Westridge FC on 22 August, it was established and confirmed that these four clubs are also not part of the breakaway.

Bayhill United’s chairman John Rangolie also confirmed that he’s club is not part of the breakaway LFA.

Westridge FC chairman Reginald Rorich stated that he did not speak to Du Doit about this matter, nor has the Club Exco met or discussed the new LFA and their club’s alleged involvement.

Representatives present at Monday’s meeting have now been tasked to report back to their respective clubs to deal with its members that were all in breach of the MPLFA’s constitution.

The respective clubs will have to impose the appropriate punishment and present this recommendation to the MPLFA at its next sitting on Sunday at the Westridge Hall at the Sport Field.
