Saxon Rovers head coach Zahir Arendse confirmed that the former national u.23 winger Sameehg Doutie is only training with his Third Division outfit to keep fit.
News reached No Bones with Jones that the former Orlando Pirates, Ajax Cape Town, Wits and SuperSport United player has left the Motsepe League outfit Grassy Park United where he featured in a couple of games last season.
According to Arendse the 34-year-old Doutie, whose last stint abroad was with Manukau United FC from New Zealand, did not indicate that he wants to further his career at Saxons in the Third Division.
“Look, I won’t mind having him in my squad and it would be nice as his experience could be beneficial to us,” Arendse told No Bones with Jones. “But I will ask him tomorrow what his plans are going forward.
These calibre of players expect to get (paid) something and our club doesn’t pay our players as there is no budget. So, I am not sure if he is going to play for free or not, you know.”
But where there is smoke there is fire and despite Arendse’s uncertainty, one cannot rule out a possibility that Doutie could be convinced by his former Ajax teammate Granwald Scott who has returned to Saxons where he started his junior career.
Therefore Arendse’s version should be taken with a pinch of salt as Doutie is impressed by the fact that Saxons has its own homefield and clubhouse which he was rather impressed with.
Meanwhile, Zarrie, as Arendse is better known, did confirm their capture of Waleed Krotz who also parted ways with Grassy Park.
“Yes, he is officially on our books as we registered him yesterday (Tuesday),” Arendse confirmed.
“You see Waleed and Sameehg are good friends, hence he asked Walleed if he can come train with us just to keep fit,” Arendse concluded.
