Mother of 15-year-old who is ‘paraplegic after match’ finally gets positive news

Liezl Adams (pictured), mother of Lentegeur FC defender, 15-year-old Dane Adams who is now a paraplegic, has at last received some positive news.

The 40-year-old mother of three boys revealed to our website that Dane is officially coming home and this is the best news she received for months now.

It is alleged that Dane played three matches, under-16, -18 and a senior match and somewhere in between allegedly injured himself.

However, according to the referee’s report submitted to the Mitchells Plain LFA, no mention of any injury was noted in the report.

According to Liezl she is for now not focussed on the case but rather on her son returning back home.

“They said on 21 February Dane should officially be back home with us and I can’t wait,” Liezl told No Bones with Jones. “There’s some paperwork and other stuff that must be sorted but I am so excited, we all are. Oh, on 26 February we must go to the (Portland) high school to go and see first-hand and to familiarize him with things like going to the toilet and back to the classroom.

“So, we are going to need all the help that we can to make it as comfortable for him. Some good Samaritan gave him weights and he is making his upper body stronger already.

“Dane is mentally very strong and he is the one that gives me courage and strength, So, I need to support him now more than ever,” Liezel concluded.

Meanwhile Lentegeur FC’s chairman Johan Van Wyk said that their own investigation is ongoing.

“We are still gathering information so for now we cannot comment,” Van Wyk added.
