Antayaspor JPM Cape Town head coach Gareth Ncaca (pictured) had nothing but high praise for his troops after they edged out Young Pirates by 1-0 at the Youngsfield Military Base on Saturday.
Lwandle Mdingi was the hero for the home side with a well-taken solo goal following a fantastic run on the left flank, before he slotted the ball past the Pirates keeper late in the second half.
This was indeed the perfect start for Antalyaspor, who recently sold its Third Division status to Wynberg St. Johns, with the name change taking effect only from next season.
Ncaca, assisted by Garth van Kesteren, did a fantastic job in a short space of time since the takeover from the WSJ, hence, the coaching staff is very satisfied with their team’s performance.
“We fought very hard and that character is always encouraging to see as a coach,” Ngaca said to No Bones with Jones. “There were a lot of turnovers and that is not usually our game, but the players fought hard and engineered a win against a top side.
“I’m pleased with the players that came in, as they gave us a lot of energy. In fact, everyone, including the coaching staff, did a magnificent job. But as important as the victory is, I’m also looking for growth and development of my players. But I’m not going to lie to myself, as there will be lessons for us as well to know what this league is all about,” Ngaca concluded.
