Ashford eyeing the double while Rygers seek redemption… And Wareley itching to prove a point with his eye for goals

While Ashford Athletic is eyeing the double over Rygersdal FC, the latter is seeking redemption following two consecutive losses where they have conceded seven goals and only scored one in their previous two matches before Safa Cape Town’s Third Division went into recess for the Easter break.

Given this, one can expect fireworks when these two sides square up (20:30) at the at the Meadows on Friday evening which will also be a battle of two young aspiring coaches in Rygers’ Ashraf Calvert and his counterpart from Ashford Curtley Daniels – who also happen to be good buddies with the utmost respect for each other.

And then there is the common denominator – veteran striker Danian Wareley who will probably have the knives out for Ashford for obvious reasons.

The 38-year-old former pro player sought greener pastures and acceptance at Rygersdal after a torrid spell at the Bridge when he came out of retirement to add value to the newly promoted Blues – but instead he felt he was greeted with disdain as opposed to patience and tolerance. Which is why Wareley is also fired up and feels he has a point to prove against his former Ashford club.

“This fixture is like a six pointer personally due to how things went at Ashford and it’s time to set the record straight,” Wareley explained to No Bones with Jones. “Then of course there is also our current situation at Rygersdal after suffering back-to-back losses which was a bit of a shock and a setback for us.

“Therefore, as a team we want to get back to winning ways as soon as possible and at the same time to show Ashford supporters what I can do in the right environment and the right service.

What I have in mind and what can come to play, can be very far apart but my expectation is to get my name on the score sheet in order to help my team with a win and to boost our confidence and to end the season on a positive note, ” Wareley concluded.
