Bra Mike says Zizwe is still a force to be reckoned with

For those of you who thought Zizwe United was over the hill and just a distant memory, think again!

This is the warning shot fired from the outspoken manager, Mike Siheke, who has cautioned the rivals that they do so at their own peril.

Siheke’s comments follow after the former three-time champion of the Second Division has shown its fighting spirit with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over their more illustrious opponents in Cape Town Spurs at the Nyanga Stadium on Friday evening.

This was Zizwe’s first three points of the campaign in Stream B – thanks to a hattrick from Manelisi Ralasi and another one from Nkosindiphile Ncwana to kickstart their season.

The Nyanga-outfit lost their opening game to Clarewood (0-2) but have now found some confidence with a well-deserved victory against Spurs.

Despite playing a game less they definitely have some catching up to do as they are trailing the log-leader, Maties FC (9 points) by six points.

Siheke believes there is still a lot to play and as in previous seasons their objective is to be successful in this league.

“We never went anywhere and just like any team in this League, we are here to compete against any team in front of us,” Siheke told No Bones with Jones.

In pre-season there was talk that Zizwe would be sold, but now the club is busy bouncing back.

About a player’s exodus from the club, Siheke said: “No, it can never be an issue, players leave. We still have a few from last season.

“Yes, the players that are here are capable enough of competing, but we don’t want to put them under unnecessary pressure by comparing them to last season’s team,” Siheke concluded.
