Build-It Cape Gate sets the bar high with successful Festival

The Build-It Cape Gate store set the bar extremely high by hosting a very successful under-13 soccer and netball festival.

The first event of the Cape Town leg was concluded at the Aristea Primary School in Kuilsriver on Saturday with Wallacedene  Primary crowned as champions after their 1-0 victory over Northpine Primary in the final.

Eight schools from the Mother City were selected to participate in this national development program run by the South African Football Association in conjunction with its regional affiliates.

The positive reaction of the participants, along with their parents and family members, contributed to a fantastic spectacle during the first festival of the Cape Town leg.

“Everything went smooth, and it was a great and successful event,” said Safa CT’s technical director, Boebie Solomons.

“There were so many activities like ball juggling, a father-son competition, spectacular drummies and much much more. The festival was top-notch, and dare I say it, like the perfect festival and we can gauge that from the big ‘hooh-hah’ reaction,” Solomons added.

Meanwhile, the co-ordinator of the netball, Mary Ann Kruger, echoed Solomons’ sentiments adding an initiative like this was “long overdue” after Eikendal Primary walked away with the netball trophy.

“It was a phenomenal day for both the kids and parents,” Kruger highlighted. “From the food to the prizes was top-notch. It was so colourful with the beautiful and creative banners designed by the schools, it was very creative.

“In fact, when we returned to school on Monday, parents had sent emails to thank the school for a very good initiative. It was a day that will be talked about for a long time,” Kruger added.

With the first festival in the Mother City done and dusted, the spotlight falls on Bosmansdam Primary School in Bothasig for the second festival on September 9th.

Needless to say, the new host Bosmansdam Primary will have to pull out all the stops to emulate or better Aristea Primary’s successful event.
