Young Bafana has tasked Jonny Chamaille (pictured), a former youth coach at the club, to take up the vacant head coach position following the sacking of Bradley Barnes recently.
The 30 odd-year-old Chamaille recently returned to the club following the completion of his UEFA A Licence from the Northen Irish Football Association – and his timing could not have been more perfect after the Strand-based club fired Barnes a couple of days ago.
No Bones with Jones has been informed that Chamaille will only take charge on an interim basis until the club finds a suitable replacement for Barnes.
Perhaps Chamaille, with all his experience and badges, will impress so much that the club’s co-owner Bernardo Steinado won’t have to look further, who knows? Besides, Chamaille is from within and knows the majority of the players very well.
Chamaille, born in London with very strong French influence, has been coaching in the Mother City for a very long time now and has earned his proverbial stripes at clubs like Santos FC, as well as high-performance coaching at clubs like Ubuntu Football Academy, Old Mutual FC and Cape Umoya United (both defunct).
Chamaille’s LinkedIn profile reads: “I am a UEFA qualified football coach. Working in Cape Town, South Africa. I specialise in the foundation phase especially the 9 to 12 age groups. I have 8 years of working with elite players. I’m fluent in both French and English. A number of players I have worked with are now playing in the PSL, South Africa’s top division.”
