Chance for Tito and Davies to prove they are formidable duo for Spurs

Only time will tell if the decision by Silver Spurs’ management to have dual coaches in Mario Tito and Franklin Davies was a wise one.

Spurs have a doubleheader in this weekend’s Hollywoodbets Third Division round of fixtures – they welcome Crystal Palace on Friday, 10 November (19:30) to the Rygate Sports Field, followed by an away trip to Mitchells Plain where Woodlands United awaits.

This game has been shifted from their original home ground at the Hickory Road astroturf to Rygate’s grass surface due to the fact that not all the lights are operational at Hickory Road.

In hindsight, this could turn out favourable as it would prepare them adequately for the Woodie Boys on Sunday who also play on a grass surface.

It will be interesting to see how Tito and Davies’ troops will match up against Palace, given the fact that they have been hit with a slight setback with both Akeel Abrahams and Tyler Bull out injured, while Yonick Africa is also unavailable.

Spurs only played about 43 minutes in their opening encounter against Goal50 United after the game was abandoned due to gang violence in Heideveld last week Friday with the score deadlocked at 0-0.

This fixture is scheduled to be played on Sunday afternoon, 26 November. Thus far there has been good synergy between Tito and Davies and the management seems to be satisfied … for now.

But then again, it is still early days and true characters and feelings are revealed when the chips are down – hopefully for Spurs, this won’t be the case this season.

Needless to say, it will be a tough ask to repeat or better last season’s runner-up finish which in the end counted for nothing. The Spurs faithful will hope that the proverbial two heads are better than one could be the catalyst this season to end their very, very long wait for success in the Third Division.
