Spare a thought for local photographer Ricardo Snyman as he faces a family dilemma this Saturday when his two sons, Keagan Tromp (Vasco da Gama) and Jeremiah Snyman (Goal50 United) go head-to-head in a Hollywoodbets Third Division match (14:00) at the Heideveld Sportsfield.
Vasco is currently setting the pace with 34 points from 16 matches and is the only side with an unbeaten record thus far, while Goal50, under coach Lloyd Schoeman, is no pushover either.
The Heideveld-based side is firmly placed in fourth with 28 points from its 16 games and looking like possible contenders this season albeit still the first round.
Hence coach Andrew Pequeno’s Vasco should prepare for yet another tough away fixture as everyone will be out to get their scalp.
Needless to say, it will be an equally difficult situation for the Snyman and Tromp families who are bracing themselves for a battle within a battle.
Keagan (30) and Jeremiah’s (20) dad, Ricardo, pointed out that it is all about keeping the peace come Saturday.
“I am sitting on the fence with this one,” Snyman said with a chuckle to No Bones with Jones. “I’m rooting for the team that wins but I am keeping my fingers crossed for a draw,” the father added.
Meanwhile, Keagan (pictured right) who has been one of Vasco’s key figures in defence conceded there will be no love lost when he squares up against his younger brother, striker Jeremiah (pictured left) on Saturday afternoon.
“Who is Jeremiah? Am I supposed to know him?” the mpre experienced Keagan jokingly stated.
“To be honest with you I’m not really fazed, he knows me I know him and at the end of the day it’s not about us but rather our respective teams. I guess the one that is more excited iw my dad.”
Keagan revealed that he has a close bond with Jeremiah although they do not live under the same roof.
“I live with my mother at the moment but whenever I see him we talk about football matters,” Keagan further added. “I watch him regularly and always try to give advice where I can, but on Saturday he’ll have my undivided attention as I need to prevent them from scoring,” Keagan added.
Jeremiah, who is still learning the ropes and making his mark, informed our website that he will do his talking on the field with the hope that the home side can narrow the gap on the log leaders from Parow Park.
“Maximum points will bring us closer to them and increase our chances of being amongst the top teams come the business end of the season,” said Jeremiah.
“I love and respect my boeta (older brother) but for that 90 minutes we are not related at all,” Jeremiah concluded.
