The individuals calling the shots at Safa Cape Town are really something ‘special.’
This follows after they opted to deliberately leave their members in the dark about Sunday’s (tomorrow) elections for the Regional Executive Committee to be held at the University of the Western Cape in Bellville.
The members were completely unaware of what was happening other than what the hierarchy fed them – or at the very least – until Langa-Ndabeni LFA circulated a letter this afternoon confirming that the Court ruled the nomination of Eric Gum (pictured) is valid and must be included on the ballot for the election of the President and possibly, vice-president on Sunday.
The news came as a major shock as some of delegates whom No Bones with Jones spoke with, wasn’t impressed at all to say the least. In fact, it was our website who informed them what the real situation is.
It appears that the current leadership conveniently forgot to mention that, when it proudly broadcasted to all and sundry, that they won the case at the Cape High Court yesterday against the Langa-Ndadeni LFA on Friday.
So, how did we land up with such a confusing situation? Was the public being lied to? Was there a deliberate misrepresentation of the outcome of the case by Safa Cape Town?
Or was this simply incompetence? And then early Saturday evening the region out of the blue issued a circular which confirmed that what Langa conveyed to the public was in fact true and correct.
Is this a case of the proverbial tail wagging the dog? Shouldn’t Safa Cape Town have been the one to inform the public correctly, truthfully and honestly, and not try to spin a story in order to make them look good?
The decision that Gum should be allowed to contest the election also raised questions about the competence of the Electoral and Electoral Appeals Committees.
Did these indivuals understand what their roles were and did they actually meet the requirements for appointment?
Or even worse, are the suspicions accurately that they appeared on someone’s caucus list and were appointed because they could be relied upon to make the “right decisions” – wink wink/nudge-nudge.
The members of Safa CT will have to make some tough decisions tomorrow and there is already a caucus scheduled by the president Benett Bailey for 09:00 on Sunday with the actual proceedings commencing an hour later.
The choice is between more of the same, or charting a new era for Cape Town.
The public awaits their decision.
