One would like to believe that Hanover Park FC chairman Rieduwaan Anthony always has and will have (local) football’s best interest at heart.
Hence it can be expected that ‘Wanie’ as he is affectionately known, will deal with the culprit(s) responsible for the attack on FN Rangers’ stand-in captain Chad Robertson at the Downberg Road Sports Complex in Hanover Park on Saturday afternoon.
This comes after his ABC Motsepe League team lost by 1-2 to FN Rangers in an epic battle between two of the promotion favourites in Stream A.
No Bones with Jones has been informed that Anthony and his executive are due to meet on Thursday (30 November) to resolve the matter.
“We are having a Club meeting on Thursday and will inform you accordingly,” Anthony said via a WhatsApp text.
Anthony said in a club statement released on Sunday that they vehemently condemn behaviour of this manner on their premises.
“For Hanover Park FC this is the first incident of its kind,” he said. “Although one person is not a registered member, the president will be set and the club will take a firm stance against this person who will not be allowed onto our premises for future home fixtures.
“Any other person that should act in this manner at our home fixtures will immediately be removed from the premises. As for the registered member, our Disciplinary Committee will be meeting soonest and the outcome of this hearing will be published,” the statement concluded.
