Inter City FC Chairman Moehsien Rauff, revealed that he had to make a decision at his club following their narrow escape to save their ABC Motsepe League status for next season.
Rauff confirmed that the club has now parted ways – with their head coach, Theo Hempe (pictured), following a rather disappointing 2025/’26 Second Division season.
“Look, we had certain objectives this season and unfortunately targets weren’t met which is rather unfortunate,” Rauff explained to No Bones with Jones. “It’s with this in mind that both parties decided to part ways amicably. We wish coach Theo everything of the best with his coaching career.
It’s pretty clear that Rauff harbours serious ambitions of stamping their authority in the league hence he is taking decisive action. The additions of seasoned campaigners like the assistant coach, Goodwin Lewis and Ashlam Petersen (General manager), also added value in a short space of time, and it signalled Rauff’s intent.
Let’s face it, City had one of the better squads in the league given the calibre of talent this season , yet they performed way below par and expectations considered the club’s financial injection
City ended second last in their stream (A) and had to play out against Bayhill United, who finished second last in their stream (B) to avoid relegation – and luckily, they deservedly got the job done with ease.
City also released one of their assistant coaches in Shamiel Permall during the course of the season after only a couple of months at the club.
