Social media has become the ideal platform to air dirty laundry – whether true or false.
One cannot deny that facts are often heavily distorted. As is the case with the “precautionary suspension” of Mitchells Plain LFA’s (MPLFA) secretary Clive Bailey following alleged irregularities regarding the registration of some players at the Bayhill football club.
Bailey is a member of this Mitchells Plain-based club.
The president of the MPLFA Gilbert Kruger (pictured) has now stepped in to set the record straight after irregularities pertaining to the registration cropped up.
“Look, there were some registrations done by the Bayhill club which we believe were not in order and our Management Committee (Mancom) investigated the matter. It was found that some irregularities may have taken place.
“And obviously, Mr. Bailey, being the secretary of the LFA and also belonging to the Bayhill club, was implicated.
“We then presented this to our Congress whereby they decided to draw up the charges as per our rules and regulations and send the Bayhill club to the DC so that they can defend themselves. The DC must now determine whether those involved are guilty or not. The DC will be sitting next week.
“And the council also decided to put Mr Bailey under precautionary suspension until the DC convenes.
“That is where the story is now. I know a lot of people are saying a lot of things about the Mancom investigating and suspending him, but I can state categorically it was our council that had decided to formulate the charges and forwarded it to the DC.
“As the Mancom we cannot investigate and be involved in this thing and then also sit in judgement.
“So, we’re giving everybody a fair opportunity to present their thing at an independent DC and not the Mancom because we only investigated the matter, you see,” Kruger concluded.
