Without being nasty or cold-hearted, but it looks like there’s no hope for Good Hope FC in Safa Cape Town’s Third Division.
Needless to say, they have become everyone’s punching bag thus far, with six defeats from six matches, four goals scored, and 21 goals conceded – that includes a 1-11 annihilation by Cape Town Spurs a couple of weeks ago which is also the second highest margin recorded in the league.
These stats suggest that Damian Hegg’s (owner) team will, in all likelihood, be one of the five teams that will be relegated this season – unless they have a drastic change of fortune starting this weekend against YMO FC at the Downberg Road Sport Complex.
The scary part for Good Hope, however, is that they are up against the league’s top scorer in Rushan Abrahams, who has netted three times as much, 12, as Good Hope has amassed altogether, which is pretty ominous to say the least.
No Bones with Jones has reached out to Hegg to get his reasoning on their worrying and winless start to the new campaign.
Hegg unfortunately declined to engage with our website, which is rather disappointing. Be that as it may, the bottom line is that they need points and they need it badly – by hook or crook!
Furthermore, Hegg will have no alternative but to cut short or even cancel their festivities when the league takes a break for the Festive period after this weekend’s matches.
That’s if Hegg wants to save his ‘investment,’ and not end up with egg on his face, again – as things will only get more challenging when the league resumes in the second week of January 2026, with a home game against the Nedbank Cup champions, Trinitarians at the Rooikrans Sports Complex.
