Giovanni Philander’s (pictured) dazzling display for FN Rangers during the recent ABC Motsepe League Playoffs, did not go unnoticed.
The 24-year-old skilful left winger has been the shining light at the Playoffs in Upington despite Rangers falling short.
The commentators even nicknamed him ‘Ntof-Ntof’ for his deft and soft ability and touches with the ball.
No Bones with Jones has reliably learnt that ‘Gio’ as Philander is better known, has massive endeavours that are in the pipeline.
“Yes, but that is a story for another day,” Philander stated to our website.
According to Philander, Rangers will live to fight another day in their quest for promotion to the pro structures of the First Division.
“At the end of the day, I believe it wasn’t our time you know. In this game, nothing is guaranteed. So, yeah Rangers will bounce back
This was Philander’s second promotional playoff campaign after he helped Saxon Rovers win promotion to the Third Division post-Covid-19.
Philander has admitted that he had a burning desire to repeat the feat with Rangers.
“I felt leading up to the playoffs that I am ready to win this thing man, if you know what I mean,” Philander added.
“I could sense that I was playing well because of how the game went and everything just went my way, you know.
“But you know sometimes in life it was not meant to be then one must accept it. You feel sorry for yourself and it shouldn’t be like that but the time will come,” Philander concluded.
