Ocean View FC needs serious intervention to stop the rot!
The coastal side has relegation written all over it following a nine-match run without a win or a single point.
This follows after another defeat against Camps Bay FC on Sunday afternoon. What makes this defeat so alarming is that they had to default the (away) match due to insufficient Under-21 players.
In this league teams are required to start a match with five under-21 players and end with two after the 90 minutes.
Subsequently, Camps Bay, who occupies the second last position with a seven-point gap over Ocean View, was awarded the points with a plus-two goal win margin as dictated by a default.
Therefore they are to hold an urgent meeting today on the way forward, says manager Leon O’ Malley.
“We were only three Unders and could not honour the fixture,” O’ Malley confirmed to No Bones with Jones. “But we have informed Safa CT about our challenges. We will address this tonight (Monday) at the meeting.
“You see, the thing is that most of the under (players) have gone back to the Eastern Cape. You also know it is the festive season and some of them just don’t pitch up. But like I said, we will address these issues at the meeting.”
Needless to say, manager O’ Malley and his troops will be dishing up their Christmas lunch with a wooden spoon and should not be surprised if they don’t digest the festive feast.
It will require a miracle from Ocean View FC to crawl their way out of the relegation. On top of this, they will have to rely on other results going in their favour.
They might have dished up Houdini acts in previous seasons to escape relegation but all the signs -with no points – are there that they are destined for LFA soccer next season.
