Bradley August, Goodwin Lewis and Peter Kirsten… to say that these three names carry weight in the local football circles is an understatement of note.
And judging by the business which their new ABC Motsepe League outfit Crystal Palace has done thus far and with potential new high-profile players on the horizon as well, one can only deduce that the club’s hierarchy is on a serious mission to gain promotion.
This, after Palace raided Antalyaspor JPM Cape Town and returned with additions like Reyaaz Koopstadt, Cole Schoeman and Shalon McGear (pictured), Clayton Du Plessis, Reyaaz Koopstadt, Dimitri Fredericks, Cole Schoeman as well as Roy-Keane Avontuur from Stelllenbosch FC.
There are some serious negotiations taking place behind the scenes to add the former Bafana Bafana defender Clayton Daniels to the squad who has been training with the Manenberg-based outfit.
Our website has also been informed that Palace retained the core of the Hollywoodbets Third Division side with players like Dillon Lakay, Ameer Halliem, Tyler Bull and a few others.
Palace already raised eyebrows when they acquired Ikapa Sporting’s Second Division status a couple of weeks ago.
As if that was not enough, the club unveiled their coaching team consisting of the two local lads August and Lewis, whilst the former FC Hout Bay and Premier United coach, Peter Kirsten, is now also on board and brings his own mojo to Palace.
Facing this trio on the touchline could be a bit intimidating as both August and Kirsten are former pro players while very few know the football landscape like Lewis does.
Palace’s ”Three Musketeers’ have now shown the type of quality they can attract after Palace raided Antalyaspor JPM Cape Town following the sell-off of their Motsepe League status.
With the season set to start in five days’ time with the Nedbank Cup preliminary rounds followed by the league campaign, Palace’s trio will now have to dig deep and rely on every ounce of their experience to find a formula that will make the new recruits gel together.
