Rangers and Rovers vow to work together to help solve mystery; SAPS involved

In the interest of reaching common ground and to bury the hatchet, it is highly likely that the chairmen of FN Rangers – Darryl Roelf – and Junction Rovers – Dawood Johannes – will engage each other regarding the ‘burglary’ fiasco at the Royal Road Sportsfield on Saturday.

Instead of action on the field being the big talking point, it was the drama that played out at half-time that dictated the narrative of the ABC Motsepe League clash following the alleged theft of two cell phones belonging to Junction’s players – Sardick Barends and Mondre Gallant.

This led to some verbal attacks on social media whereby club members and fans from both clubs had a go at one another.

It is understood that Gallant’s father, Sammy, has subsequently opened a (theft) case at the Maitland Police station following the alleged theft of his son Mondray’s cell phone.

No Bones with Jones has established Roelf and Johannes will in the coming days open dialogue to resolve the matter.

Johannes said he is willing to engage Roelf to get to the bottom of the matter. The Junction boss explains what he encountered on Saturday afternoon.

“I was on my way to the toilet at half-time when I was greeted with the shock discovery of our dressing gate being opened,” Johannes stated. “They showed me the lock that did not work and was tampered with. I even tried closing the lock only to discover it was broken and something was definitely wrong.

“I advised them to check their bags but the funny thing is that everything was in its place. They even counted the amount of bags and it was correct. Whoever took the phones had time to go through all the bags but only took that particular two.”

Meanwhile, Roelf declined to comment on the matter as they don’t have sufficient verified facts at this stage.

“The matter may well be the subject of a police investigation, so we don’t think it is appropriate to give further comment at this stage,” Roelf told No Bones with Jones. “We don’t know what the allegations might be.”

  1. My suggestion as a preventative measurement, if their is like i understand it in this case a safety gate to the dressing rooms and can e lock with a padlock.
let the visiting team always bring along their own lock to lick their belongings away.

If the lock is broken or open and its not done by them, then it will be easier to establish who needs to answer.
