Safa CT and CDFA finally smoke peace pipe after “light-hearted” presentation

A picture tells a thousand words!

And in this particular instance, it depicts one of maturity, hope and prosperity – not just in football terms but the broader society as well as we are human first before anything else.

It is also safe to say that the Cape District Football Association (CDFA) and its Mother body, Safa Cape Town, have finally smoked the peace pipe and buried the hatchet – ending a longstanding feud between the two entities.

And this was probably one of the most significant developments which emerged from the CDFA’s annual presentation at the William Herbert Sports Complex on Tuesday evening, coupled with the honouring of Vincent Barnes’ late mother, Mavis.

Apart from the CDFA honouring its clubs, administrators, players and coaches for their efforts during the season, its president, Wayne Jones (pictured right), has revealed that it is time for the LFA and Safa CT to have a better relationship.

Jones, who was suspended by the region a year ago for bringing the game into disrepute, said in his speech that the beef between the organisations is not particularly good for soccer.

According to Jones, the CDFA had a contribution to make in the broader football landscape of Safa CT.

“That’s what clubs want, that’s what club administrators want, that’s what players want, for CDFA and Safa CT to have a healthy relationship, with the understanding that CDFA is not a pushover,” was the message Jones conveyed to the guests at the presentation.
