Many would say that Safa Western Cape Chairman Tankiso Modipa (pictured) and his secretary Nadia Konstabel were ‘lucky’ to get away with just the proverbial slap on the wrist.
This comes after the Cape High Court found Modipa, Konstabel and Safa Western Cape guilty and fined R50 000 for failing to comply with the court order of 6 March 2025 and 24 March 2025.
The fines are suspended for seven days on condition that comply with the court order and they now have seven days to convene a meeting and to consider a possible expansion of the Saso Women’s League.
This is also on condition that all the clubs must be given the opportunity to participate and raise any concerns they may have about the implications of a possible expanded league campaign.
Meanwhile, there is another conundrum within this saga that is set to unfold regarding the 10 clubs that were invited by Safa WC to participate in this season’s Sasol League.
It goes without saying that these 10 clubs did not acquire promotion to the Sasol League in the conventional manner as stipulated by the league’s regulations.
Added to that, the court stipulated that those games which were supposedly Sasol League games must be stopped immediately.
No Bones with Jones has been informed that this process to secure the funds is underway as correspondence has already been sent to Safa National. This deadline is today to pay the outstanding monies which is in the region of close to R2 million.
Meanwhile, Safa WC has issued a press release to confirm that the Sasol League matches have been postponed till further notice.
“The Chairman of the province is waiting for the reasons from the court judgment why our papers were not considered, and he is preparing to challenge the matter as soon as he gets the reasons for order.
“The chairman also indicated that there is another urgent application to court from some of the clubs who are compliant to court for next week’s sitting.
“The matter has become complex and it affects the league season as it’s a continuous battle in the court of law,” the statement concluded.
The court has also ordered the province must pay the cost of the sitting.

Please investigate SAFA Cape Winelands, there are clubs from the Hollywood Bets Regional league that were sold without proper procedures,
Electric City FC was sold to CCK
Try Again FC from Robertson was sold to Worcester United FC and this one is worse because Try Again FC had broken the rules and never taken to the DC, in the season of 2023/2024, HOD Competition was involved in this illegal sale,
