It is clear as daylight that Garlandale Football Club has something promising up its sleeve – but what remains the million-dollar question.
This follows after the club announced the former Bafana Bafana player Bradley August as its new coach for the 2024/’25 season.
August will work closely with the club’s management and players to build a strong and cohesive team and will be able to compete at the highest levels,” the statement read.
“His approach emphasizes player development, teamwork and strategic planning which aligns with the club’s goals to sustained success.
The club’s chairman Yusuf Nceroddien said that they are enthusiastic and excited to have someone of August’s calibre at their club.
“His expertise and dedication to sport makes him the ideal candidate to lead our team into a bright future,” Nacerodien explained. “We believe his vision and leadership will elevate our club’s performance and contribute to our long-term success.” the Garlandale boss added.
There is no doubt that August is one of the most successful amateur coaches in the Western Cape following league titles with the now-defunct Second Division outfit, Glendene United.
Not to mention his handful of league titles with Crystal Palace from Manenberg in the Third Division. He has also played at the highest level and his CV is impressive to say the least.
August had this to say. “I am honoured to join Garalandale Football Club and look forward to the journey ahead. Together with the players and staff we will work hard to build a team that embodies the club’s values and aims for excellence both on and off the field.
“I am committed to fostering a positive environment where every player can thrive and contribute to the club’s success,” August concluded.
The club, based at Santos FC’s former clubhouse in Imam Haroon Road in Lansdowne, has been springing surprises in recent times.
Firstly, they took everybody by surprise when they acquired the old Santos premises in Lansdowne, then they announced a big sponsorship deal with an Italian apparel company Macron a few seasons ago and recently they broke away from the Cape District Football Association after a number of years to join the Cape Town Tygerberg LFA.
There definitely seems to be something big brewing at Garlandale – and it will be no surprise if Nacerodien comes up with another big announcement in the near future as they are ambitious to say the least!
