Former Santos attacker Shaun Sopio opened up on a return to ABC Motsepe League football with the Second Division newbie Seaside Spurs.
The 34-year-old former Greenwood Athletic born and bred-winger has expressed his delight at being back in the fold in a higher league in an attempt to resurrect his career.
“I am just glad to be back as I missed playing football,” Sopio told No Bones with Jones. “It is a better setup now and I am looking forward to testing myself to the limits. The fact that I am around more experienced guys that I played with before, makes the adrenaline pump with excitement.
“Players that know the game very well like Duimpie” (Damian Basadien), Diego Brown, Wesley (Nicholson) as well as Franklin Cale – even though he is coaching now. I feel with them around they will bring out the best in me so this will also be a good test for myself again,” he added.
No Bones with Jones can also confirm that Seaside have tied up Kyle Seegers as well to help prepare for new life in the Second Division.
Sopio could be filling the role of Cale who has been appointed as assistant to head coach Gerald Stober who has been very strategic with his recruitments.
Given their recent business in the transfer market, it is evident that Seaside is preparing to ride any wave that comes their way this season.
