Stellies distance themselves from “fake trial” post, parents be warned!

Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie is once again left unimpressed following another “fake trial” post where their logos are attached on the flyer doing the rounds on social media.

Benadie pointed out that they (and other clubs) have an ongoing battle with these fake posts and scrupulous individuals masquerading as Stellenbosch FC officials.

Benadie made clear that they distance themselves from the post and have nothing to do with them.

The Stellies boss said: “We will never charge any fees for these types of activities. I will follow up and make sure we post info to warn supporters.”

This comes after one of the parents, Janine Barends, sought confirmation from No Bones with Jones: regarding the initial fake post.

“My son is currently with Highbury and when I saw the post I thought this could be his lucky break,” Barends told our website. “But let me warn parents out there…

“Do your research. Speak to people before committing and paying any fees. In fact, when you notice there are fees involved, you should rather walk away as that would be your first red flag,” Barends added.

  1. Too many parents desperately see these trials as a gateway for their “superstar kids” into professional soccer and are willing to pay for these trials . Soccer or sport for that matter should not be the “End all” if your child is a talented player but a supplement to developing an all round balanced individual with varied paths in to life . Too often coaches see parents shuffling around kids between clubs running from trial to trial knockout to knockout instead of letting them play the game and learning the life lessons along the way . “Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.” I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.”
