Former Bafana Bafana striker Shaun Bartlett has revealed that his interview with the ABC Motsepe League outfit Young Bafana was not for the vacant head coach position, but rather in an advisory capacity to the club.
Bartlett confirmed that he is still weighing up his options after he met with the defending ABC Motsepe League champion who is a mere shadow of last season’s outfit.
Due to their struggles and indifference of form compared to the last season, the Strand outfit has now reached out to the best in the business on how to get them back on track – on the field of play as well as off with the administration.
“Ja, it will just be on a consulting basis and in an advisory capacity to see what they can do better going forward and invest in other things,” Bartlett told No Bones with Jones. “Look, I haven’t decided yet but talks are ongoing at the moment,” he added.
Meanwhile, it is expected that Young Bafana’s hierarchy will make an announcement on Friday (8 December) on who will be taking over the reins from Carlos Manuel who parted ways with the club on Monday after only a couple of months in the hot seat.
Diadora FC’s Mangaliso “Shakes” Ntombana, Bizana Pondo’s Scara Matiwane, the former Bush Bucks player and ex-coach of Amavarara FC, Mzunani Mgwigwi and Rowan Hendricks have all been interviewed for the head coach position.
Our website reached out to Young Bafana’s founder, Bernardo Steinado but he was unavailable for comment.
