Shosholoza FC’s owner ready to dance – waiting for realistic partner

Shosholoza FC owner Richard Wilson (pictured) says he is ready to do the Chinelos or the Concheros – traditional Mexican dances – but the problem in Cape Town soccer is no one seems to be serious enough to take up his challenge.

It is no secret that this Mexican-born American has big plans for his Hout Bay-based club, with the desire to play in the Second Division.

Wilson explained to No Bones with Jones: “We would like to be in the ABC Motsepe League. We are ready to dance, but there don’t seem to be many who are serious or realistic to start with talks in that regard.”

Wilson’s comments follow after our website probed him on a possible takeover of Zizwe United’s ABC Motsepe League status.

The soccer boss confirmed they had discussions with clubs like Zizwe, Batalions and Ikapa Sporting in the past leading up to the season but it came to nothing.

“Over time different parties got involved, ideas were changed and we were in a position where we were gonna compete against Inter Africa for Batalions, However, we didn’t think that’s as good a deal as it seemed like. Inter Africa paid more and we were not prepared to go that route.

“The other one I think Ikapa ended up deciding that they were gonna try for one more year and the same with Zizwe. Just on the results, Ikapa is doing well and Zizwe is down at the bottom. We still have our door open, you know, and I still take phone calls.

“If the time is right or it’s realistic I’ll sit down and talk with anyone as long as they are serious because I am tired of dealing with people that are not serious. So, I do not know if Zizwe is interested in selling or not ” he added.

Meanwhile, Wilson stated that they are willing to help some of these clubs in the interim by offering their brightest talents to struggling clubs like Batalons whose status was bought by Inter Africa.

“We are always looking at things from the perspective of the players and if we think we’ve got a really good player and we don’t currently have a competitive level that they need, then we are more than happy to direct them to other clubs. have three players that are trialling with one of the clubs as that club desperately needs players as they are not doing well.
