Newly-elected chairman of Hazendal United FC, Nazrudien Begg (pictured), is understandably itching to take the club to newer heights – especially on an administrative level.
This comes after the Bokmakierie-based team had its administration lifted in September last year.
For those who aren’t familiar with Hazendal’s predicament they faced last season. Here’s the lowdown in a nutshell…
Hazendal FC was placed under administration for a period of eight months after the leadership of the club resigned.
The Rygate General Counsel moved a motion that the club be placed under administration and the senior vice-president Dawood Johannes was appointed as the administrator.
Johannes’ mandate was to make sure that during the administration period the club continued to play football and that he steered the club to hold an AGM for a new leadership to be elected.
He was to report back to the Rygate General Council within three months and if the report was accepted then he should set a date for them to have an AGM.
According to Rygate LFA’s president Abdul Tajoodien Johannes’ mandate was executed and Hazendal was taken into an elective AGM and was overseen by Rygate in accordance with the LFA’s electoral code.
“I am happy that Hazendal has a new leadership in running the club now for more than eight months. They are actively involved in the LFA,” Tajoodien said to No Bones with Jones.
The irony of Hazendal FC is that despite their shortcoming off the field, they have been a force to be reckoned with on the playing field as their recent track record speaks for itself.
The team from Bokmakierie has been one of the top senior teams at the Rygate LFA and has consistently performed well. They have been crowned league champions for three consecutive years but fell short at the regional playoffs at each of their attempts.
Last season they made waves in the Coke Cup and semi-finalists after dominating at Rygate once again. They were also crowned club of the at their LFA in 2022.
So, with the football side flourishing Begg will be eager to get them on par administratively as well.
By now Begg should have realised that he has his work cut out for him as the club always had a rich history of administrators and officials like Red Damon, Agmat Salie and Graham Dirks – with the latter still serving as deputy chair.

There was nothing wrong with the club in the first place. And the achievements of the club was under the old administration. So please give glory to the Women and one guy who saved the club six years ago from going under and their great achievements.
The club has also played in the Bayhill premier cup 2023 and won a couple junior trophies at Rygate LFA over their years service to the community.
